GRANITE PROPANE:
A FAMILY BUSINESS WITH A RICH HISTORY
Our company history began when Rudy and his son John Forster purchased Ugalde Propane of Gerlach, Nevada in August of 1993. They changed the company’s name to Granite Propane, Inc. in 1996, naming it after the Granite Peak mountain range located just northwest of the town of Gerlach.
The first expansion was to purchase property in Silver Springs, Nevada which they did in 2000. In the beginning, they operated the business from a telephone nailed to a pole until they decided to relocate the main office of Granite Propane, Inc. to Silver Springs, which they did in 2001.

In June of 2012, Granite Propane, Inc. again expanded our growing service area to include Lovelock, Nevada and its surrounding areas. Later, as the company and service areas grew, the current plan in motion was to purchase property in Fallon, Nevada. This was to be used for yet another storage facility. However, the ultimate goal was to set ourselves up to better serve that area’s businesses and customer base by providing whatever propane products and services they needed, both now and in the future.
That always has been and always will be our primary focus – fueling our community… literally! And we take our roles and goals seriously. After all, small business owners, agricultural operations, and families just like yours rely on Granite Propane to keep our Northern Nevada regional service areas stocked with propane for heating, cooking, running industrial machinery, and more… all without experiencing delays or dangerous conditions caused by inexperienced staff or poor propane-handling practices.
That’s why we’re Northern Nevada’s preferred propane provider for both residential & business communities alike. We keep this side of the state running smoothly, encouraging economic growth & stability for our neighbors and fellow business owners. Granite Propane offers safe propane gas fuels and propane cylinders you need to live your best life! It may not be glamorous, but it’s true! And we’re here to ensure the service areas we operate in are well taken care of.
PROPANE SAFETY IS OUR PRIORITY
Granite Propane, Inc. is very proactive when it comes to the safety concerns associated with propane gas delivery, handling, filling, storage, and propane tank installation. Our employees are continually educated and trained in the latest tech changes and propane handling best practices by attending propane safety classes offered by the Liquid Propane Gas Association.
Naturally, our staff members are trained in all areas of the propane delivery process, servicing propane cylinders of all sizes, and most importantly, the safe handling of propane gas. Above all, our people are committed to the safety of our customers first.
